First of all:
How can your Pekingese have lost all the skin between eyes and nose and have that area covered in pus *for three weeks* and you're just now going to a vet? I know it's hard to see with the way the skin lies in folds, but a third of its face is an open wound and you're wondering why it doesn't seem to feel well?
And the opposite:
Just because your dog walked with a slight limp for two minutes this morning or sneezed once you don't have to go to a vet immediately. And if you do, don't complain for having to wait and pay the emergency rates.
Never mind. I know the answer to that question.
I'm rereading Last Chance to See and this sentence:
"began to be revived by the dawning realisation of how absurd I must look."
Made me realise why that one surgeon annoys me so much - she seems to be unable to make fun of herself. Or even see that her behaviour could be seen as anything but rational.
Oh well, I'll get my ulcer for different - but not less stupid - reasons, so who am I to talk.
